Chantry Academy celebrates continued success with GCSE results

Students at Chantry Academy in Ipswich are celebrating after another year of successful results with 40 per cent of students achieving a level 4 or above in both English and Maths.

Chantry Academy, part of the Active Learning Trust, has maintained successful GCSE results, with individual students making impressive progress allowing them to continue with the next stage of their learning.

Seven subjects attained 100% of students achieved a level 5 or above.  In English and Maths, over half the students attained a grade 4 or above in each of the subjects.

There were also strong results in Art, with 85 per cent of grades at 4 or above and in Statistics, 91 per cent of students achieved a grade 4 or higher. Overall, Chantry Academy’s results show that attainment has improved in six subjects from the previous year.

Craig D’Cunha, Principal of Chantry Academy, said: “I am delighted that the hard work of our students, staff and local community has enabled our students to go on to continue their development.

“It is pleasing to see the changes made to the school are still having an impact on the students today. This has been a real team effort and I am proud to be working alongside Chantry Academy’s committed and talented staff and students.

“These successful grades will give the students the freedom to make their own choices about the next stage of their education – well done to all.”

There were a number of standout individual performances, in particular:

  • Jake Barber achieved four of the prestigious grade 9s in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics, a Distinction and two 7s.
  • Sophie Dickerson achieved four 9s in English, History, Mathematics and Physics, four 8s and two 7s.
  • Libby Page achieved one 9, two 8s, three Distinctions and three 7s.
  • Dylan Fothergill achieved four 7s, two distinction*s and one further distinction
  • Tao Simon achieved one 8, three distinctions and two 7s
