School Closure - Wednesday 16th September

Dear Parents and Carers,

Unfortunately, due to a significant loss of running water across the majority of the school site, we have had to take the decision to close the main school site from 11:30am today.  This does not include the students in the Peile Centre, who are unaffected.

The disruption has severely reduced access to toilet facilities and has also affected our ability to provide food services safely. As a result, it is not possible for us to keep the school fully operational for the remainder of the day.

Students will be dismissed from school at 11:30am. To support communication with families, our usual mobile phone expectations have been temporarily relaxed, and students will be permitted to use their mobile phones during the school day to contact home and make arrangements for their journey.

If you have concerns about your child leaving school site at 11:30am, please contact the school by 11:15am by emailing rhanson@chantryacademy.org and providing:

• Child's first name
• Child's surname
• Year group

We have a small area of the school that continues to have access to water and toilet facilities, which will allow us to safely accommodate vulnerable students and any students whose parents/carers have safeguarding concerns regarding an early departure from school.

We have also made it clear to all students that, if they are unsure about how they will get home, are unable to contact a parent or carer, or have any concerns about travelling home, they should speak to a member of staff before leaving the site. Students who are concerned about travelling home can remain in school and will be supported by staff until appropriate arrangements have been made.

We are working closely with DPL to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and will continue to keep parents and carers updated throughout the day. We will communicate arrangements for tomorrow as soon as further information becomes available.
