Students rewarded with silent disco for good behaviour and attendance

Our students have recently enjoyed a silent disco as a reward for their efforts last half term.

Around 250 students from Gipping House were rewarded for being the school house with the highest attendance, house points and golden tickets.

We are also continuing to give out golden tickets to students showcasing strong effort, focus and organisation in lessons. Pupils can choose to exchange their tickets for entry into a weekly prize draw, which also helps promote positive behaviour.

The silent disco is one of many initiatives which rewards students at Chantry. Staff also nominate ‘Chantry Champions’ every week. These are pupils who consistently demonstrate the school’s shared values, and these pupils are celebrated in assemblies and receive a small goody bag as a token of appreciation.

We recently launched our new house system and each house is named after a local river – including Belstead, Orwell, Gipping and Fynn.

Students in Gipping House said the disco was “brilliant”, highlighting that “everyone in Gipping House got involved, danced their hearts out, and showed amazing house spirit.”

Another student described a “fantastic atmosphere”, adding that “everyone contributed to the win.”

Using wireless headphones to celebrate means students can enjoy the same music at a volume which suits them while avoiding creating any excessive noise for the wider community.

“We have been focusing on building a strong culture of recognising and rewarding hard work and success, so it was brilliant to see our students beginning half term with a celebration to acknowledge their hard work over the past couple of months. We look forward to supporting all our students in the months ahead!”
Dean Rosembert, Headteacher
